Chatbase is a customer-facing agent desk: train one agent on your site or PDFs, write procedures that call tools, then put it on chat, email, or voice. Use it when the job is a branded support/sales agent on your channels, not when you need a full shared helpdesk you host yourself.

• Source trainer — crawl a site, upload files, paste text, add Q&A, or connect Notion, then train one agent (Build your first agent). A pile, not a prompt.
• Procedures + actions — numbered steps that call tools (lookup_order, returns, booking) so the agent does a job, not a paragraph (chatbase.co Procedure / Guardrails still). A workflow, not a generate.
• Channels — chat bubble, help page, WhatsApp, email, phone, Slack, Messenger, Instagram, Shopify from one agent (docs Channels). Delivery, not training.
• Helpdesk inbox — humans and the agent share the same conversation (pricing “Chatbase helpdesk inbox” on Standard+). A desk, not a widget.
• Playground / tests — compare instructions side-by-side, then run scripted conversations before go-live (docs Playground; changelog “automated test conversations”). A rehearsal, not a deploy.

Widgets (interactive cards in chat) sit on the same channel. The JavaScript embed and Voice API are install / SDK. Message credits are the meter. Model names (Claude / GPT) are SKU.

• Hobby — $32/month billed yearly (card also $40 monthly). 2 members; advanced models; basic integrations and analytics; file attachments in chat.
• Standard — $120/month billed yearly ($150 monthly). 3 members; helpdesk inbox; Voice API; advanced integrations.
• Pro — $400/month billed yearly ($500 monthly). 5 members; advanced analytics; source suggestions; tickets as a source.
• Enterprise — custom. SSO; HIPAA-eligible; audit logs; white-label; SLAs; CSM.

Auto-recharge: $40 per 1,000 message credits (credits that do not expire). Homepage “Start free trial” / “Build your first agent for free” is a trial path — the pricing cards we opened did not print a permanent Free $0 row, so we do not invent a credit count for it.

Limitations / costs

• $32 / $120 / $400 are yearly-billed cards. Monthly list is $40 / $150 / $500.
• No public $0 plan card on the pricing page we opened. Trial ≠ Hobby.
