The Grok part

Cursor lists The X Subscription family. Grok documents the same Plus $8 / Premium $30 / Super $100 / Ultra $200 ladder (annual in parentheses on the xAI docs). Surfaces differ. grok.com/pricing returned 404 on the same check — we do not invent a SuperGrok-only card.

If you already pay X/xAI for Grok, confirm whether that seat is the same checkout as Cursor. Do not assume one $8 covers both products until the bill says so.

What $8 does not buy

  • Claude or GPT inside the editor. That is Premium, then API list.
  • A ChatGPT or Claude web assistant. Those are separate seats: ChatGPT Plus $20/month; Claude Pro $17/year billed or $20/month.
  • Unlimited agent runs. Plus is a pool. Heavy repo loops climb the ladder or stop.

Best for / not for

Best for: daily coding in a VS Code-style window, happy with Grok, wants the cheapest paid Cursor card.

Not for: buyers who came for “$8 Claude in Cursor”; teams that need org SSO and a current-IDE plugin first — that is still GitHub Copilot at $10/month plus flex.

Buy it if

  1. You will live in Cursor, not visit it.
  2. You tried the free Agent/Chat limits and hit them.
  3. You can name a week of work Grok can do.
  4. You accept that the next step is $30 + API, not a hidden Claude toggle.
