Submagic

What it is for

Submagic is a caption-first shorts desk: drop a clip, get styled captions, then trim silences, drop B-roll, and export a vertical. Use it when the job is a finished short with captions in one pass, not when you need a full NLE timeline.

What makes it unique: the cover is Submagic’s own homepage before/after still — raw talking-head on the left, captioned vertical on the right (THAT TAKE YOU DO NOW) — not a pricing card.

Key features

• Auto captions — styled captions in 123 languages from an upload (How to use Submagic; submagic.co). One caption pass, not a clip find.
• Text-based trim — cut by transcript; Remove silences and Remove bad takes on the Trim tab (help Step 2). An edit, not a generate.
• Magic B-roll — auto-insert stock that matches the line, then swap a shot (help Step 7). A layer, not a caption.
• Hook title — an intro title the desk writes, then you restyle (help Step 4). A title card, not a caption style.
• Schedule / publish — pick a date and post to social from the editor (homepage; Pro+ profiles). Delivery, not an edit.

Magic Clips (long video → many shorts) is a separate find-clips pipe — and a $19 add-on, not a plan row. AI avatars are another generate. Clean Audio / eye-contact sit on the same edit. API minutes are install / SDK. Credits (3 per video) are the meter. 1080p / 2K / 4K are SKU.

Who it's for

Best fit: creators who will pay Starter so a watermark-free 2-minute export is more than a 3-clip trial.

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-22 (Asia/Shanghai) from submagic.co/pricing. Cards print per member.

• Starter — $19 / member / month ($12 / mo billed yearly). 45 credits = 15 videos; 2 min max; 1080p / 30 fps; no watermark; free B-roll; 10 API min.
• Pro — $39 / member / month ($23 yearly). 120 credits = 40 videos; 5 min; Storyblocks; auto zoom; silence / bad-take / clean audio; brand kit; 1 publish profile / platform.
• Business — $69 / member / month ($41 yearly). 300 credits = 100 videos; 30 min; 4K / 60 fps; 3 profiles / platform; 100 API min; priority render.
• Custom — quoted. Extra API packs from $57/mo (250 min).

No permanent $0 plan card. Homepage “Try for free” is a 3-video watermarked trial (no card). Magic Clips add-on: $19/mo for 10 long uploads. Help: no refunds.

Limitations / costs

• $19 / $39 / $69 are monthly cards. Yearly list is $12 / $23 / $41.
• No keep-forever Free plan. Trial exports stay watermarked.
• Caption desk, not a long-form clipper. For podcast → many shorts without a caption-first editor, see Vizard.

Alternatives

• Vizard — long-to-short clips when captions are not the job.
• Captions — talking-head captions/camera when you do not need Submagic’s B-roll desk.
• Klap — YouTube-to-shorts when you want clip-first, not caption-first.
