Loopback

What it is for

Loopback is a macOS virtual-audio routing desk: you wire Music + Farrago + USB Microphone into Virtual Mic for Zoom, and a single-user license is US$99. Use it when the job is app-to-app routing you start at a public $, not when you need SoundSource’s per-app volume / EQ first.

Soft-note: US$99 single-user (one or more personal Macs) + US$49 upgrade from Loopback 2 + Audio Hijack pair US$134 / Ultimate Podcast Bundle US$199 — buy.php (“$99 USD Purchase Now”; local taxes may apply). Distinct from SoundSource, Stats, and Bartender.

What makes it unique: the cover is Rogue Amoeba’s official wire graph (Virtual Mic for Zoom, Sources Music / Farrago / USB Microphone, Output Channels 1–4, Monitors Internal Speakers + USB Output) from tour-full@2x.png — not a wordmark. The Music→Channels 1 & 2 cables themselves are ops of the graph.

Key features

• Virtual device list — Virtual Mic for Zoom + Pass-thru (cover still; product). One desk. Cover Virtual Mic for Zoom sits here.
• Sources — Music / Farrago / USB Microphone on the cover (cover). A source, not a $99 meter.
• Output channels — Channels 1 & 2 / 3 & 4 (cover). A bus, not Get started.
• Monitors — Internal Speakers + USB Output (cover). A monitor, not Enterprise.
• Wire graph — teal cables between sources and channels (cover). A route, not a volume fader.
• New Virtual Device — add another graph on the cover (cover). A device, not SSO.

Download / Purchase Now are CTAs (not desks). US$99 / US$49 stay in Pricing. There is no AI extra to drop.

Who it's for

Best fit: Mac users who will buy US$99 after they route a first Zoom virtual mic — not SoundSource US$49 first unless they only need per-app volume / EQ / AirPlay, and not if they need Windows.

• macOS-only. Needs mic / system-audio permissions.
• A router, not SoundSource’s volume / EQ / AirPlay mixer. For that see SoundSource.
• Not a recorder. Audio Hijack is a separate Rogue Amoeba product.
• Rogue Amoeba’s YouTube is the vendor channel — we did not oEmbed a first-party Loopback getting-started film.

Alternatives

• SoundSource — per-app volume / EQ / AirPlay when you want US$49, not a virtual-device graph.
• Stats — a menu-bar sensor when you want Free / MIT readouts, not audio routing.
• Bartender — a menu-bar manager when you want Bartender 7 $24.99 / Pro $19.99/yr, not Zoom virtual mics.
