Jenni

What it is for

Jenni is a hosted academic writing workspace: import PDFs, draft with cited autocomplete, chat the library, then run a claim review before you export. Use it when the job is write the paper with sources in one desk, not when you need an Overleaf language overlay.

What makes it unique: the cover is Jenni’s own homepage workspace still — library hits (deadlift / sprint papers), a cited Abstract, and AI Chat — not a pricing card.

Key features

• Cited autocomplete — the editor suggests the next sentence from your sources and ties the claim to the PDF (jenni.ai “Write alongside AI”). Outline / expand / paraphrase buttons on that canvas are one write stream.
• Reference library — drag PDFs, or import Zotero / Mendeley, and keep the corpus next to the draft (Getting started; homepage step 01). A shelf, not a paragraph.
• AI Chat over the library — ask across selected PDFs (@ a file) (jenni.ai “Ask questions across your library”). Every source into one Q&A, not extra products.
• Reviews — claim-confidence and proofread passes that flag unsupported / contradicted / overstated lines (jenni.ai “Catch weaknesses before reviewers do”). A critique, not a draft.
• Paper search — semantic search over 200M+ papers from inside the editor (homepage “Search 200M+ papers”). Discovery, not chat on files you already uploaded.

10,000+ citation styles and .docx / LaTeX / HTML export sit on the same cite/export path (SKU). Autocomplete counts are the meter. The browser extension is install.

Who it's for

Best fit: students and labs who will pay Plus so more than 10 autocompletes a day stay cited.

Limitations / costs

• $12 / $29 are yearly cards. Monthly list on docs is $30 / $73.
• Free is 10 autocompletes a day. Plus is the first serious writing card.
• Academic desk, not a novel Codex. For fiction beats, see Novelcrafter.

Alternatives

• Yomu — another citation-backed academic editor.
• Writefull — language overlay on Word / Overleaf, not a full library desk.
• Paperpal — manuscript language + journal checks.
