Dovetail

What it is for

Dovetail is a hosted research-project desk: you open a project grid, and Free is $0 / user / month. Use it when the job is interview clips you file in a project, not when you need a $20 chat seat.

What makes it unique: the cover is the official Dovetail project data grid (Strategy / Genesis, Interview with Anne-Marie, Interview with Noah) from the help still — not a pricing card. The cards themselves are ops of Projects. Dovetail bills $0 on Free; paid is Enterprise / contact sales, not a chat seat.

Key features

• Projects — a research file you fill with interviews (cover still; help). One project. Cover Anne-Marie / Noah sit here. Free includes one project.
• Channels — a feedback stream you classify (pricing One channel on Free). A channel, not a project. Voice-of-customer sits here.
• Chat — a question you ask against the project (pricing Chat). A chat, not a channel. Summaries sit here.
• Docs — a shareable insight you publish from clips (pricing Unlimited Docs on Enterprise). A doc, not a chat. Reels sit here.
• Dashboards — a trend chart across feedback (pricing Dashboards on Enterprise). A dashboard, not a doc. 24/7 tiles sit here.

The import snippet is install. Free / Enterprise tiles are the meter. Digital Twins and Agents are add-on SKUs, not a sixth desk we fold into Projects.

Who it's for

Best fit: research / product teams who will stay on Free at $0 / user / month (one channel, one project, Chat) while they open a first interview grid, then talk to sales for Enterprise when they need unlimited projects, channels, and dashboards.

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-23 (Asia/Shanghai) from dovetail.com/pricing. The page prints Free $0, no card required / $0 user/month and Enterprise Custom pricing.

• Free — $0 / user / month. No card. One channel. One project. Chat against that project. AI summaries inside the single project.
• Enterprise — custom pricing / contact sales. Unlimited Agents, channels, projects, Docs, Slack/Teams chat queries, dashboards, global tags, redaction, priority support.

Confirm checkout; taxes follow your location.

Limitations / costs

• Free is one project and one channel. A second study is Enterprise / sales — there is no public $X Team tile on the fetch we used.
• A research desk, not a CRM. For Attio’s CRM see Attio. For Clay’s enrichment see Clay.
• Paid dollars are sales-quoted. Do not invent a $Y / seat from a blog.

Alternatives

• Attio — CRM records when you want Attio’s company desk, not Dovetail’s $0 interview grid.
• Clay — enrichment tables when you want Clay’s people rows, not Dovetail’s research project.
• Plain — support threads when you want Plain’s customer inbox, not Dovetail’s insight docs.
