beehiiv

What it is for

beehiiv is a hosted Visual Editor desk: you open Compose and style a named post on the canvas, and Free is $0 (pricing.md prints 2,500 subscribers). Use it when the job is a newsletter canvas you start at a public $, not when you need a $20 chat seat.

What makes it unique: the cover is beehiiv’s official Compose / Visual Editor (Knowledge Base Example, August 3, 2026, (NO. 23) The Weekly Edit, 173 words, Draft Synced, Style > Post Fill / canvas / post border #DED1C8, Outline 10 px) from the Compose still on How to create and publish a post — not a pricing card. The Weekly Edit block itself is ops of Compose.

Key features

• Compose / Visual Editor — write and style the post on one canvas (cover still; help). One desk. Cover The Weekly Edit / 173 words sit here. Next / Preview sit here as CTAs, not a sixth desk.
• Audience — who receives the send (help). A list pick, not a canvas heading. Segments print on Lite.
• Email / Web / Review — the later tabs of the same post flow (create-post). A tab, not a Style slider.
• Subscribers — the audience table you filter and open (help). A table, not a post title. Free: up to 2,500 subscribers.
• Posts report — delivered / opened / click KPIs across sends (help; paid plans). A report, not a canvas image.
• Website / Podcast — the publication site and show that ship with the same account (pricing.md Free “Newsletters, Website, and Podcast”). A site, not a Compose block.

Next / Preview / Style on the cover are CTAs (not desks). Free / Lite / Pro tiles are the meter. beehiiv AI (in-editor) / Agent / MCP are AI extras, not a sixth desk we fold into Compose.

Who it's for

• Automations and 0% take-rate print on Lite. Free stays sends + website at $0 / 2,500.
• The $49 / $95 yearly cards are the 1,000-subscriber bucket. Larger lists cost more on the same table.
• A Compose canvas, not Kit’s Subscribers list. For that list see Kit.

Alternatives

• Kit — a Subscribers list when you want Newsletter $0 / 10,000, not beehiiv’s The Weekly Edit.
• Brevo — an Email campaigns list when you want Free $0 / 300/day, not Lite $49.
• Loops — a SaaS email desk when you want Loops Free $0 / 1,000 contacts, not Pro $95.

Official tutorial

Official beehiiv channel video: Create Your First Post in Just 5 Minutes (beehiiv Tutorial) (oEmbed author: beehiiv). First-party post walkthrough; the Compose still is the cover. Audience / Review chrome on the video is ops of the post flow, not generate-on-the-canvas. The same film is embedded on the create-post help article.
