What it is for

Softgen is a hosted prompt-to-full-stack app builder: describe the product, it plans and writes a Next.js app with managed Supabase, then you export GitHub and deploy to Vercel. Use it when the job is an app you can take with you, not when you need a brochure site.

It is not open source. The marketing homepage and the Academy docs disagree on how you pay. We print both. Confirm checkout.

What makes it unique: the cover is Softgen’s signed-out composer — “What do you want to create?” plus Build my app — and the company pitches GitHub + Supabase + Vercel ownership at the same price band as other builders.

Best fit: founders who want a Next.js + Supabase app they can open in Cursor, not a locked preview.

Poor fit: local-service owners who only need a brochure + booking page (Durable).

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-22 (Asia/Shanghai). Two official stories. The homepage comparison table prints Starter $25/mo and “credits never expire while subscribed; roll over on Pro.” Academy docs print $33/year membership + wallet, “no monthly fees,” “no credits that expire.” We will not pick a winner. Re-check softgen.ai/pricing and Academy pricing plans on the account you will actually pay.

• Homepage path — start free with trial credits, no card. Paid Starter $25/mo on the comparison table (500 credits on an older vs-Lovable note). Pro is the rollover tier. Top-ups exist.
• Academy path (current help) — $3 paid trial, then $33/year membership for full builder access (GitHub, preview, deploy helpers, collaboration). Usage is a wallet you top up; no monthly bundle, no rollover-of-credits model.
• Ownership — cancel and the app keeps running if it is on your Vercel / GitHub (homepage).

Do not copy only “$25/mo” or only “$33/year” without naming the source page.

Limitations / costs

• Official billing conflict. Homepage $25/mo vs Academy $33/year + wallet.
• Usage is still metered on both stories (credits or wallet). The membership is not unlimited inference.
• Stack is Next.js / Supabase / Vercel. If you need a different framework, export and leave.
• ActRun is a partner product with separate billing (homepage footer).

Alternatives

• Lovable — prompt-to-app with a documented credit ladder (Pro from $25/mo).
• Bolt — in-browser app builder if you already like StackBlitz.
• v0 by Vercel — prompt-to-React if the deliverable is UI, not a full Supabase app.
