What it is for

Resend is an email desk: you send transactional mail, broadcast to contacts, run automations, and optionally read replies in Inboxes. Use it when the job is email you start at $0 (3,000 transactional / month, 100/day), not when you need a $20 chat seat.

What makes it unique: the cover is the official Resend Inboxes list (Engineering inbox, Compose, message rows) from the Inboxes announcement — not a pricing card. The list itself is ops of Inboxes.

• Transactional send — API / SMTP mail that counts against emails/month (pricing Transactional Email). One send. Domains and webhooks are how this ships. The SDK is install. Free is $0 / 3,000 emails (100/day); Pro starts at $20 / 50,000.
• Marketing broadcasts — send to a contact list; billed by contacts, not by email count (pricing Marketing Email). A list send, not a password-reset. Free is $0 / 1,000 contacts; Pro marketing starts at $40 / 5,000.
• Automations — event-triggered runs (delay, branch) (pricing Automations). A run, not a single send. Free and paid include 10,000 runs/month; paid overage is $0.0015/run. Free has no overage.
• Inboxes — a shared inbox you read and compose from (Inboxes; pricing). A desk, not a broadcast. Every plan includes 3; paid plans add more at $1/inbox/month. Send/receive still hits the transactional quota.
• Inbound — receive mail at your domain and POST it to a webhook (docs). A receive hook, not a human inbox. Traffic still counts as transactional email.

Dedicated IPs ($30/mo), extra domains ($20/mo / +100), and SSO ($150/mo) are SKU. React Email is install. The emails dashboard is ops of send.

Who it's for

Best fit: app teams who will stay on Transactional Free $0 (3,000 emails, 100/day, 3 inboxes, no card) while they send a first receipt, then buy Pro at $20/month when they need 50,000 emails and no daily cap — and add Marketing only when they have a list.

Limitations / costs

• Free transactional is 100 emails/day. The 3,000/month envelope still dies on day 30 if you burst.
• Marketing is a second bill. Contacts are not the transactional quota.
• Inbox send/receive burns transactional emails. A busy inbox is not “free chat.”
