What it is for

Oso is a hosted authorization desk: you open Datafacts, and Cloud Developer is Free (no card). Use it when the job is policies and facts you start at $0, not when you need a $20 chat seat.

What makes it unique: the cover is the official Oso Cloud Datafacts list (has_permission / has_role types, Filter fact types, Add / Show matching facts) from the docs still — not a pricing card. The fact types themselves are ops of Datafacts. Oso Cloud’s Developer tier prints 5 developers and 100 monthly active users on the quickstart. The marketing pricing page we fetched the same day prints a different product — Oso for Agents at $0 / $15 per user / month.

Key features

• Datafacts — authorization facts you add for users and resources (cover still; quickstart). One fact type. Cover has_role(Actor, "owner", Item) sits here.
• Rules Editor — Polar policy you author in Workbench or code mode (image; editor). A policy, not a fact. Deploy sits here.
• Explain — a decision trace for one authorization check (cover Explain nav). A trace, not a rule.
• Logs — the stream of checks you inspect (cover Logs nav). A log, not an explain.
• Dashboard — the Cloud home above those desks (cover Dashboard nav). A home, not a log.

The CLI / Dev Server is install. Usage is the meter. Oso for Agents (sessions / shadow AI on the pricing page) is a different product — not a sixth Cloud desk we fold in.

Who it's for

Best fit: app teams who will stay on Cloud Developer Free (5 developers, 100 MAU, no card) while they open a first Datafacts list, then talk to Oso when they outgrow that include. Do not treat Agents’ $15 / user / month as the Cloud tile.

Limitations / costs

• Cloud Free is 5 developers and 100 MAU. The public pricing page does not print a Cloud Pro dollar — do not invent one.
• Agents $0 / $15 is not Cloud Datafacts. Session monitoring is a separate desk.
• An authorization desk, not a login widget. For Stytch’s $0 / 10k MAU auth see Stytch. For WorkOS SSO see WorkOS.
