Keenious

What it is for

Keenious is a research-discovery workspace over about 177M publications: search, open a 2D topic map, and unpack a paper beside the text. Use it when the job is find and understand published papers, not when you need an essay writer. The product says it does not write essays or outlines.

What makes it unique: the cover is Keenious’ own landing workspace still — a question, a 2D topic map, and a paper list — not a wordmark.

Key features

• Scholarly search — about 177M publications with filters (open access, peer review, date, citations) and a direct-search path that does not need chat (landing; pricing). Companion “describe what you are curious about” is the same discovery stream (another start).
• 2D topic map — up to 1,000 publications grouped into research areas; pick a cluster and the list narrows (same landing “Browse the results, or explore the map”). A landscape, not a paragraph.
• In-paper explanations — highlight a term, method, or statistic; Keenious explains it in plain language beside the PDF and can translate other-language studies (landing “Explains difficult papers as you read”). Reading help, not a search.
• Authors, venues, institutions — move from a paper to ~71.2M authors, ~190K venues, and ~123K institutions (landing “Every paper is an open door”). Entity records, not another keyword box.
• Word / Google Docs add-ins — the same Plus seat runs beside a manuscript you already have open (pricing). A writing-host surface, not the web map.

Export (RIS / BibTeX / Zotero / EndNote / CSV) and PDF size caps are Plus chrome or the meter.

Who it's for

Verified 2026-10-22 (Asia/Shanghai) from keenious.com/pricing. Individual and Team cards print starting-at yearly dollars. Monthly / quarterly toggles exist in Settings — those dollars were not on the public cards we copied.

• Individual Plus — starting at $10/month, billed annually. Unlimited companion conversations; export; PDF uploads up to 20 MB.

Students can request 30% off annual Individual (eduverify@keenious.com). No Plus trial — Free has no time limit.

Limitations / costs

• $10 / $20 are “starting at,” billed annually. Do not invent a monthly Plus dollar the public cards omit.
• Free companion is 3 conversations / day. Search and the map stay unlimited on Free.
• Not an essay writer. For a cited draft workspace, see Yomu.

Alternatives

• Elicit — research-agent composer over papers.
• Litmaps — citation-neighborhood maps.
• Connected Papers — one-paper graph, not a 177M search desk.
