ForkLift

What it is for

ForkLift is a macOS dual-pane file-manager desk: you open a local tree (johnappleseed/Documents/WebsiteBackup), inspect AirBalloon.jpg, and keep a lifetime license with a timed update window. Use it when the job is local + remote panes you start at a public $, not when you need Transmit’s Panic cloud connectors first.

Soft-note: lifetime license + timed updates — 1 year: Single US$19.95 / Family US$29.95 / Small Business US$69.95; 2 years: Single US$34.95 / Family US$49.95 / Small Business US$119.95 — binarynights.com/store. Distinct from Transmit, Hazel, and Raycast.

What makes it unique: the cover is BinaryNights’ official dual-pane + inspector still (WebsiteBackup tree, Photos grid, AirBalloon.jpg 1.5 MB JPEG) — not a wordmark. The AirBalloon.jpg inspector itself is ops of the right pane.

Key features

• Dual-pane browser — folder tree + icon grid (cover still; product). One desk. Cover AirBalloon.jpg sits here.
• Inspector — General / Permissions size + dates on the cover (cover). An inspector, not a $19.95 meter.
• Local + remote — dual-pane file manager and transfer client (store). A pane, not Get started.
• File transfer — connect and copy between local and remote (product). A copy, not Enterprise.
• Sync — keep folders aligned (vendor feature set on the product pages). A sync, not a license tile.
• Quick Look / preview — identify files in the grid (cover). A preview, not SSO.

Download / Buy are CTAs (not desks). Single / Family / Small Business $ stay in Pricing. There is no AI extra to drop.

Who it's for

Best fit: Mac users who will buy Single US$19.95 (1yr updates) after they browse a first local+remote pair — then Family US$29.95 or 2-year US$34.95 if they want that window, not Transmit US$45 first unless they want Panic’s cloud connector list, and not if they need Windows.

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-23 (Asia/Shanghai) from binarynights.com/store. Soft-note: USD as printed. License is lifetime; updates are 1 or 2 years.

• 1 year of updates — Single US$19.95 / Family US$29.95 / Small Business US$69.95.
• 2 years of updates — Single US$34.95 / Family US$49.95 / Small Business US$119.95.
• After the window — you keep the last covered version; new updates need a new license (printed).
• The product is not OSS. We omit a GitHub CTA.

Limitations / costs

• macOS-only. No Windows / Linux ForkLift.
• Update window ends; the app you have stays. New majors after the window are a new license — not a hidden subscription on the store page.
• A dual-pane manager, not Transmit’s cloud-first SFTP/S3 list. For that see Transmit.

Alternatives

• Transmit — Panic’s SFTP/cloud client when you want US$45 one-time + 7-day trial, not a local dual-pane first.
• Hazel — folder automation when you want Hazel 6 US$42, not dual panes.
• Raycast — a launcher + File Search when you want Free $0 / Pro $10, not a file-transfer client.
