Focusmate - AI Tools Nav

What it is for

Focusmate is a live virtual coworking desk: you book a 25 / 50 / 75-minute slot, get matched with a partner, sit on camera with Mute / Effects / Chat, and Free is 3 sessions/week (no credit card). Use it when the job is a live partner you start at a public $, not when you need Rize’s automatic time-entry Dashboard only.

Soft-note: Free 3 sessions/week (no CC) + Plus $8/mo billed annually or $12/mo monthly (unlimited). Distinct from Rize, Timing, and Tuple.

What makes it unique: the cover is Focusmate’s official session UI (partner two-up, guitar still, PiP, Mute / Effects / Chat) from the How it works still — not a wordmark. The Mute / Effects / Chat cluster itself is ops of the session.

Key features

Live partner session — two-up video after a match (cover still; How it works). One desk. Cover guitar + PiP sit here.
Mute / audio — the Mute control (cover; video experience). A mute, not a Plus tile.
Effects — background blur / video add-ons (cover; features). An effect, not a $8 meter.
Chat — goals and status in-session (cover; FAQ). A chat, not Get started.
Book a session — 25 / 50 / 75-minute slots on the dashboard calendar (how to book). A booking, not Enterprise.
Favorite partners — star a partner and prefer them next time (features). A favorite, not SSO.

Start free / Upgrade are CTAs (not desks). Free / Plus $8 / $12 stay in Pricing. There is no AI extra to drop.

Who it's for

Best fit: people who will stay on Free at 3 sessions/week (no CC) while they book a first 25- or 50-minute match — then Plus at $8/mo annual when they need unlimited sessions, not a solo timer first.

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-23 (Asia/Shanghai) from focusmate.com/pricing plus focusmate.com. Soft-note: the pricing page prints 3 sessions per week, $8/mo. billed annually, and $12/mo. billed monthly.

Free — 3 sessions/week. “No credit card required.”
Plus — unlimited sessions. $8/month billed annually, or $12/month billed monthly.
Business — “For enterprises, small businesses, learning communities, and more.” No Business $ is printed on the HTML we fetched. Do not invent a Business $.
Gift cards exist (FAQ). Confirm checkout; taxes may be added.

Limitations / costs

Free is capped at 3 sessions/week. The fourth session in a week is Plus.
A live partner match, not a solo timer. You need a camera and a matched person; this is not Rize’s automatic Dashboard.
The product is not OSS. We omit a GitHub CTA rather than invent a product repo.

Alternatives

Rize — an automatic time tracker when you want Basic $9.99/mo annual, not a live Mute / Effects / Chat match.
Timing — an automatic Mac timesheet when you want Professional $108/yr, not a body-doubling session.
Tuple — pair-programming screen-share when you want Engineering $30/user/mo, not silent coworking.
