FLUX - AI Tools Nav

What it is for

FLUX is Black Forest Labs’ image and video model family: the official Playground still (see the cover: prompt, model picker, and a generated frame) is the same meter as the API. Use it when the job is one FLUX model, one printed rate.

License is hosted pay-as-you-go plus optional open weights. 1 credit = $0.01. There is no seat subscription on bfl.ai/pricing.

What makes it unique: the cover is the live BFL Playground / generating-images docs chrome — prompt + printed megapixel or per-second rate — a product console rather than a model poster.

Key features

FLUX.2 stills — klein, pro, flex, and max text-to-image on the hosted table (generating images).
Natural-language edit — describe a change on an input frame; swap objects, backgrounds, or text (editing).
Multi-reference — combine several source images so a face or product stays consistent (overview).
Grounding search — FLUX.2 [max] can pull live web context before it draws a current event or product (overview).
Hex color lock — put #RRGGBB in the prompt and match a brand swatch on the output (overview).
FLUX 3 video — text-to-video at hd / fhd / qhd / uhd on the live model table.
Local FLUX.2 [dev] / klein — downloadable weights when you want to run off the hosted console.

Who it's for

Best fit: builders who want FLUX at a printed per-image or per-second rate without a monthly seat.

Limitations / costs

Hosted FLUX.2 [dev] is local-only on the model table.
Video cost scales with seconds and resolution.
Open-weights commercial use is a separate license row.
No monthly seat — unused credits follow BFL account rules on that page.

Alternatives

Midjourney — hosted aesthetic studio with published Basic+ cards.
Leonardo — hosted image studio with a public free token bucket.
fal — serverless playground that also meters FLUX.dev per megapixel.
