What it is for

ChatGPT Atlas was OpenAI’s ChatGPT-native browser: a Chromium window with Ask ChatGPT in the chrome, an agent sidebar on the open site (cover: Instacart + beach-essentials run), and a new-tab composer. Use this page when the job is Atlas the browser — not the ChatGPT chat site.

Atlas is deprecated. OpenAI scheduled it to stop working on August 9, 2026. Bookmarks and tabs do not migrate automatically. The living path is the ChatGPT desktop app, cloud browser, and the ChatGPT Chrome extension.

What makes it unique: the cover is OpenAI’s official Atlas Agent still — live Instacart grid, agent thread, Stop, and Ask ChatGPT — not a logo on a gradient.

• In-line writing — highlight text in a form field or document, click the ChatGPT mark, and write or edit without leaving the tab (Release notes).
• Page-aware summarize / draft — the sidebar explains, extracts, or drafts from the current page (Release notes).
• Browser memories — optional: remember facts from pages you visit; view, archive, or delete them; clearing history deletes the matching memories (Data controls).

Who it's for

Best fit: people who installed Atlas and still need to export bookmarks, or who want the historical product note.

Poor fit: anyone starting fresh — use ChatGPT + the Chrome extension, or Perplexity Comet.

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-22 (Asia/Shanghai). Atlas had no separate checkout. It sat on ChatGPT plans. chatgpt.com/pricing HTML still hides $; cite Help.

• Agent / Atlas features were paid-gated on the launch path (Plus / Pro / Business / Enterprise / Edu). Do not invent an Atlas-only $19 browser SKU.

After 2026-08-09, paying Plus/Pro does not keep Atlas running.

Limitations / costs

• Scheduled stop: 2026-08-09. Export bookmarks before then.
• No automatic bookmark / history / cookie migrate (Help).
• Security updates stop with the browser. Do not stay on a dead Chromium.
• This is not the ChatGPT chat page. Conversations live in ChatGPT; Atlas was the browser shell.

• Perplexity Comet — a living AI browser ($0 + Comet Plus $5).
