AnswerThis

What it is for

AnswerThis is a hosted cited research desk: ask a question over 250M+ papers, draft a literature review with line-by-line citations, or run a PRISMA systematic review. Use it when the job is a sourced review you can check, not when you need a local PDF CLI.

Hosted product. Free is $0 (no card).

What makes it unique: the cover is AnswerThis’ own Library workspace — papers table, Connect Zotero / Mendeley, Upload PDFs, and custom columns.

Key features

• Cited literature search — Deep search across 250M+ papers with filters (date, citations, journal quality) and linked sources (answerthis.io; guide). Discovery / Q&A.
• Literature review / AI Writer — Full Review drafts a sectioned review or manuscript with a bibliography you can restyle (official Full Guide). A writing surface.
• Systematic review (PRISMA) — agent-led screening, dual reviewers, living reviews, audit trail on Pro / Max (our-pricing). A review pipeline, not a summary.
• Citation mapper — maps influence / connections across the paper set (homepage Citation Mapper; official master class). A graph, not a paragraph.
• Library + PDF chat — save papers, sync Zotero / Mendeley / EndNote, and ask across your pile (guide + pricing). Your files, not the open corpus.

Meta-analysis / Trial Landscape sit on higher Industry / Max cards. MCP and credit meters are SDK or billing.

Who it's for

Best fit: students and labs who will start on Free and pay Pro when the 5-project cap is gone.

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-22 (Asia/Shanghai) from the Academia cards on answerthis.io/our-pricing. The page also has an Industry toggle and a second credit table ($14 / $30 / $100). We copy the Academia list. Re-check the toggle.

• Free — $0 / month. No card. Deep search; cited answers; 5 saved projects; Zotero / Mendeley / EndNote export.

A deal URL also printed Free / Pro $35 / Research $75 / Max $250. Confirm checkout.

Limitations / costs

• Free is 5 saved projects on the Academia card we copied.
• $35 is the public Pro monthly card. Industry yearly rows can print different dollars.
• Systematic review and meta-analysis are paid. Free stays on cited search and summaries.
• Hosted desk, not a local RAG CLI. For that, see PaperQA2.

Alternatives

• Elicit — research-agent composer over papers.
• Anara — PDF workspace with Plus $10 / $8 yr.
• Consensus — Ask-the-research composer with Pro / Deep cards.
