Sweep AI

What it is for

Sweep started as a GitHub issue-to-PR bot (search the repo, propose a diff, post a plan) and later sold a JetBrains next-edit / agent plugin. Use this page when the job is Sweep — not Copilot, not a living issue bot.

Hosted servers went offline on April 9, 2026. New subscriptions were blocked before that. sweep.dev still publishes a pricing page, but the product is shut down.

What makes it unique: the cover is Sweep’s official issue-plan UI — Step 1 Code Search, Step 2 Snippet Analysis, proposed filepath + diff — not a wordmark.

Key features

• Issue-to-PR bot — label an issue sweep; the bot searched the repo and opened a pull request (Show HN pivot; cover).
• Code Search + Snippet Analysis — the bot posted a plan comment with filepath and proposed changes (cover).
• Next-edit autocomplete — JetBrains Tab model that predicted the next edit, not only the next token (Sweep for JetBrains).
• Inline edit — select code, describe the change, apply the patch in the editor (Sweep for JetBrains).
• Agent in the IDE — search, edit, then run tests / linters with JetBrains static analysis (Sweep for JetBrains).
• AI commit messages + review — generate a commit message from the staged diff; review comments on the same plugin (Sweep for JetBrains).

Who it's for

Best fit: people who used Sweep’s GitHub bot or the JetBrains plugin and need a living replacement.

Poor fit: teams that still want a hosted issue-to-PR agent — look at Devin or Graphite, not a dead Sweep login.

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-22 (Asia/Shanghai). Last public consumer cards on sweep.dev/pricing and docs.sweep.dev/pricing. Servers are offline — these dollars are last-known, not a checkout that will provision.

• Free Trial — $0. 1,000 autocompletes; $5 API credits (pricing page).
• Basic — $10/mo. Unlimited autocomplete (pricing FAQ).
• Pro — $20/mo. More API credits; paid plans also granted the plan price as Sweep API credits (docs).
• Ultra — $60/mo.
• Agent usage — underlying LLM cost + 5% markup (docs). Unused credits rolled 30 days.

Do not buy a Sweep seat expecting a living IDE.

Limitations / costs

• Servers offline April 9, 2026. Autocomplete and the GitHub bot will not start.
• Two products, one brand. The cover is the original issue-plan bot; JetBrains next-edit was the later SKU.
• Issue-to-PR needed a tight spec. Sweep’s own HN post said fuzzy tickets failed.
• They promised a local 7B + runtime; treat that as a shutdown leftover, not a supported app.

Alternatives

• GitHub Copilot — living JetBrains + VS Code autocomplete (Individual starts at Copilot’s public card).
• Graphite — PR inbox and review if the job is the pull-request, not Tab.
• CodeRabbit — PR review comments if you want an AI reviewer, not an issue bot.
