SigNoz is an OpenTelemetry observability desk: traces, logs, and metrics land in one UI, and you can self-host the Community edition at $0 or run Cloud from $49/month of included usage. Use it when the job is APM you start at $0 OSS or $49 Cloud, not when you need a $20 chat seat.

What makes it unique: the cover is the official SigNoz Logs Explorer (filter query, frequency chart, timestamp/body rows) from the logs UI docs — not a pricing card. The explorer itself is ops of logs.

Key features

• APM / traces — OpenTelemetry spans with latency, rate, and a key-operations table (pricing APM & Distributed Tracing). One request path. Dashboards and alerts on traces are ops of this.
• Logs — parse, filter, live-tail, and save views (pricing Log Management). A line, not a span. Pipelines that parse JSON are this surface. The cover explorer is ops.
• Metrics — samples plus host / Kubernetes / container views (pricing Infrastructure Monitoring). A gauge, not a log. Cloud-service metrics (AWS/Azure/GCP) sit here.
• LLM monitoring — model calls via OpenTelemetry, Langtrace, OpenLLMetry, or OpenLIT (pricing LLM Monitoring). A prompt span, not a host CPU sample.
• CI/CD observability — pipeline health, DORA metrics, PR/repo stats, flakiness (pricing CI/CD Observability). A build, not a production trace.

Exceptions are a view of traces. Alerts and dashboards are ops. Noz / MCP is SKU. Ingested GB (logs/traces) and metric samples are the meters. Community self-host is $0.

Best fit: platform teams who will stay on Community Edition $0 (self-host, no card) while they ship a first OTel pipeline, then buy Cloud Teams at $49/month when they want $49 of included usage and no cluster to run.

• Community is $0 but you run ClickHouse. Teams is the managed desk.
• An OTel desk, not an LLM-only tracer. For prompt traces see Langfuse. For agent evals see Opik.

Alternatives

• Langfuse — LLM traces and prompt versions when you do not want host metrics.
• Opik — agent traces plus an Optimization Studio when the job is evals, not infra APM.
• Helicone — a model gateway with logs when the traffic is only LLM calls.
