Qdrant is a vector search engine: create a collection, upsert points with a payload, then query_points with filters. Use it when the job is store and search embeddings you already made, not when you need the embedder itself.
What makes it unique: the cover is the official qdrant/qdrant GitHub file list — src/, docs/, lib/, Apache-2.0 in the About pane — not a marketing orb.
query_points (Local Quickstart; Qdrant Essentials). One engine; HNSW / quantization sit on this index, not a second product.city: London) and query_filter so a nearest-neighbor also matches a field (Quickstart “Add a filter”). A predicate, not a vector.Docker / QdrantClient(url=...) and Qdrant Edge (in-process) are install / SDK. vCPU / RAM / disk hours (and paid inference tokens) are the meter. GPU SKUs and cloud regions are SKU.
Best fit: RAG teams who will run OSS or Cloud Free for $0 (1 GB / 4 GB, ~1M × 768-d vectors) and only open Standard when they need dedicated RAM and a 99.5% SLA.
