Knowt

What it is for

Knowt is a student study desk: upload a lecture or a PDF, get notes and flashcards, then Learn / test / match them. Use it when the job is exam prep from your own files, not when you need a general chat seat.

What makes it unique: the cover is Knowt’s own homepage product still — the AI Lecture Summarizer phone composer plus flashcards / PDF / exam-prep callouts — not a pricing card.

Key features

• AI Summarizer — one upload (PDF, image, video, PowerPoint, or live recording) becomes notes and cards (Student getting started; Free plan). Those file types are input variants of this, not five products. Free: 1 summary / month.
• Study modes — Learn, Practice Test, Spaced Repetition, Match, and Flashcards on a set (same article). A desk, not a generate.
• Call Kai — voice tutor on your files (Ultra; Free plan “AI voice tutor”). A spoken quiz, not a written test.
• Podcast generator — turn a note or set into a podcast (Ultra). Audio, not a card.
• Exam prep — AP / SAT / ACT hubs, mock exams, and practice rooms (Free: 1 mock + 5 practice sessions; Ultra unlimited). A bank, not a summarizer.

Chrome extension / Quizlet import sit on this ingest. Teacher classes, assignments, and Knowt Play are the teacher desk. AI summaries are the meter.

Who it's for

Best fit: students who will stay on Free for unlimited sets and only buy Ultra when they need more than one AI summary a month.

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-22 (Asia/Shanghai) from the live knowt.com/plans Students tab (screenshot) and What's included in the free plan for students?.

• Basic / Free — $0. Unlimited file creation, live collaboration, storage. Browse public resources. Study modes on your own sets. AI Summarizer 1/month; 1 full-length mock; 5 practice-room sessions.
• Ultra — Annual — $12.99/month billed upfront $149.99/year. 3-day free trial. Ad-free; unlimited summarizer / lecture recording / podcast / Call Kai; full AP/SAT/ACT.
• Ultra — Monthly — $24.99/month billed monthly. Same Ultra features.

Help Center copy says Ultra is “$149.99/year (about $12.50/month) or $24.99/month.” The live Students tab prints $12.99/month billed $149.99. Use the live card. Teacher Ultra is a different tab — confirm that card at checkout; do not reuse the student dollars.

Ultra also caps 100 video and 100 PDF uploads / month (usage help). Notes/cards from those files stay unlimited.

Limitations / costs

• Free AI is 1 summary / month. Ultra is the first serious summarizer.
• $12.99 is the yearly card. Monthly Ultra is $24.99.
• Teacher dollars are a different tab. Re-check Teachers before you buy for a class.
• A study desk, not a general writer. For teacher lesson tools, see MagicSchool.

Alternatives

• MagicSchool — teacher AI tools when Knowt’s student Ultra card is not the job.
• NotebookLM — source-grounded notes when you want Google’s notebook, not flashcards.
• ChatGPT — a general assistant when you do not need spaced-repetition modes.
