Kagi

What it is for

Kagi is a paid-by-you search engine with an Assistant: the public Pricing cards are Trial / Starter / Professional / Ultimate, and the Quick Start docs show the results chrome (lenses, Quick Answer, summarize). Use it when the job is ad-free web results you can personalize, not when you want a cited paper table.

What makes it unique: search is the product; Assistant (Quick / Research) sits on the same bill.

Key features

• Search results + lenses — Forums, Academic, Programming, and custom lenses under the query box (Quick Start).
• Quick Answer — append ? or press q for a sourced synopsis of the result set.
• Summarize Page — three-dot menu on a result.
• Assistant modes — Quick on Starter/Professional; Research + flagship models on Ultimate (pricing page).
• Share This Search — copy a results link for someone without a seat.

Who it's for

Best fit: people who will pay a monthly search bill to drop ads and tune site weights.

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-22 (Asia/Shanghai) from kagi.com/pricing. Dollars are USD. Sales tax may be added at checkout.

• Trial — Free. 100 searches and 100 Assistant interactions (FAQ on the same page).
• Starter — $5/mo. 300 searches; Assistant Quick mode.
• Professional — $10/mo. Unlimited Kagi Search; larger Assistant Quick allowance.
• Ultimate — $25/mo. Assistant Research mode and the flagship-model list printed on the card.

Unused months credit the next bill (Fair Pricing copy on the page).

Limitations / costs

• Trial is 100 searches. A heavy week burns the bucket.
• Assistant is fair-use metered on the same page’s Terms note.
• Search engine, not a systematic-review table. For paper screening, see Elicit.

Alternatives

• Perplexity — cited answer engine with a public free composer.
• You.com — Web Search APIs priced per 1k calls.
• Phind — signed-out developer search composer.
