Infracost

What it is for

Infracost is a hosted FinOps-in-PR desk: you open the Cloud dashboard, and CI/CD is Free for 1,000 runs / month. Use it when the job is IaC cost and governance you start at $0, not when you need a $20 chat seat.

What makes it unique: the cover is the official Infracost Cloud Dashboard (Acme Inc, 3,198 issues in 538 merged PRs, $552,000 / yr saved, governance / cost donuts, Zeina / John / Scott leaderboard) from the docs still — not a pricing card. The $552k on the cover is ops of the dashboard. Infracost bills CI/CD Free / Starter $250 / Cloud $1,000, not a chat seat.

Key features

• Dashboard — the org FinOps scoreboard on the cover (cover still; get started). One org. Cover 45% / 20% / 80% practice tiles and the $552k donut sit here.
• Pull Requests — a per-PR cost + governance list (PRs still; PR comment). A pull request, not a dashboard tile. Cover Visibility nav lands here.
• Governance / FinOps policies — a rule you fail or pass on a plan (pricing; policies). A policy, not a PR. Cover “2 failures / 50 passed” style checks sit here.
• Issue Explorer — a queue of policy hits you filter (docs). An issue, not a policy. Cover 3,198 issues detected sit here.
• Reports — a saved view across repos / business units (docs; cover Reports nav). A report, not an issue.

The CLI / IDE plugin is install. Autofix is ops of policies. 1,000 / 10,000 runs are the meter. Cloud’s 10 admin seats are the seat SKU, not a sixth desk.

Who it's for

Best fit: platform teams who will stay on CI/CD Free (1,000 runs / month) while they open a first Dashboard, then buy Starter at $250 / month when they need 10,000 runs — or Cloud at $1,000 / month when FinOps policies and Issue Explorer matter.

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-23 (Asia/Shanghai) from infracost.io/pricing. Tiles print CI/CD Free / Starter $250 / mo / Cloud $1,000 / mo / Enterprise.

• CI/CD — Free. Sign up free. Cost estimates for Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation, and CDK. GitHub / GitLab / Azure DevOps. 1,000 free runs / month. Slack community.
• Starter — $250 / month. Everything in CI/CD. Email support. 10,000 runs / month.
• Cloud — $1,000 / month. Everything in Starter. 10 admin seats (developer seats extra — do not invent that dollar). FinOps policies, Issue Explorer, Autofix, visibility dashboards, team management, audit trails. Trial on the page.
• Enterprise — custom. GitHub / GitLab Enterprise, SKU-level price overrides, SSO / SAML. Do not invent an Enterprise dollar.

Confirm checkout; taxes follow your location.

Limitations / costs

• Free is 1,000 runs / month. A busy monorepo still invoices Starter at $250 / month.
• Cloud’s $1,000 tile is 10 admin seats. Extra developer seats are an add-on the public page does not price — do not invent it.
• A FinOps desk, not a cloud bill. Infracost estimates IaC before apply. For VictoriaMetrics’ metrics store see VictoriaMetrics.

Alternatives

• Qovery — env-as-a-service when you want Qovery to deploy the stack, not Infracost to comment on the plan.
• Buildkite — CI when the job is the pipeline itself, not the $ estimate on the pull request.
• Namespace — ephemeral runners when you want Namespace’s $ sandbox, not FinOps policies.
