What it is for

Decktopus is a hosted AI slide studio: you click Create New Presentation, keep decks in folders, and spend credits to generate or edit slides. Use it when the job is a first-draft deck with a credit meter, not when you need Figma-level brand control.

It is not open source. There is no free plan on the public cards — Pro is the first paid SKU. A short trial (about 3 slides on older help) may still exist; confirm in-app.

What makes it unique: the cover is Decktopus’s own library chrome — Search, Create New Presentation, My decks / Folders, and a real FairPrice deck tile — not a marketing grid of fake slides.

Key features

• Generate from a topic or file — describe the talk or attach a PDF/doc; Decktopus drafts the deck from that brief (Create with AI).
• Review the outline first — reorder, rename, duplicate, or delete slides before you click Generate Presentation (Outline).
• Edit with AI — prompt a slide to change tone, layout, or images; preview, then Apply or Undo (Edit with AI).
• Carousel — generate a card-by-card LinkedIn / Instagram carousel from a topic, then edit each card (Carousel).
• Brand from a website URL — paste a site; Decktopus pulls colors, fonts, and logo onto the new deck (Brand import).
• Loop rehearsal — practice delivery on the same deck (Loop).

Who it's for

Best fit: founders and marketers who want a credit-capped slide generator with rehearsal (Loop).

Poor fit: teams that already pay for Gamma and do not need Loop, or designers who need a design system.

• Pro — $24.99/mo monthly; $19.99/mo on the 3-month term ($59.97 / 3 months); $9.99/mo billed annually ($119.88/year). 750 AI credits/month (~150 slides). One person; Loop; PDF/PPT/PNG.
• Business — team workspace, Brand Kit, analytics, custom domain, 1,000 credits/seat/month (pricing comparison). Public seat $ was not a single printed number on the fetch we used — confirm the Business toggle.
• Enterprise — custom.
• Credits — refresh monthly and do not roll over (carry-over FAQ). Paid plans can buy top-up packs that do not expire.

There is no $0 Pro. Do not write a Free card that the pricing page does not show.

Limitations / costs

• No public free plan. Budget at least Pro.
• Credits die at month-end unless you bought a top-up pack.
• 5 credits/slide means 750 credits ≈ 150 slides, not 750 slides.
• Brand Kit is Business, not Pro.

Alternatives

• Gamma — prompt-to-deck with a living Free credit grant (Plus $9/seat/mo annual).
• Plus AI — AI inside Google Slides / PowerPoint if you already live in those files.
• SlidesAI — cheaper slide generator if you only need text-to-slides, not Loop.
