Coda

What it is for

Coda (now Superhuman Docs) is a hosted Team Tasks table: you edit rows in a doc, and Free is $0. Use it when the job is a table you start at a public $, not when you need a $20 chat seat.

What makes it unique: the cover is Coda’s official Team Tasks table (Project Awesome, rows Conduct market research / Create project timeline / Gather project requirements, Assignee, Due Date 1/14/2024, Status last modified, Status In progress / Complete / Blocked / Not started) from the Overview: Tables still — not a pricing card. The rows themselves are ops of Tables.

Key features

• Tables — a base table you type into (cover still; Overview: Tables). One desk. Cover Conduct market research / In progress sit here. Add row / search sit here as CTAs, not a sixth desk.
• Views — connected mirrors of a table (cards, calendar, timeline, board, chart, form, detail) (help). A view, not the base rows. Cover Status chips sit on Tables; a Timeline tab is this desk.
• Forms — a published view that collects rows (pricing; help). A form, not a Team Tasks row. Unlimited forms on Free; custom branding on Pro.
• Automations — a rule that writes back to a table (pricing). Free has a low quota; Business is unlimited. A rule, not a view.
• Pages — the doc canvas around the table (pricing “Collaborative docs”). A page, not a Team Tasks cell. Cover Project Awesome is the doc that holds the table.

Share / Insert / New page on the cover are CTAs (not desks). Free / Pro / Business tiles are the meter. Docs AI and MCP are AI extras / trials, not a sixth desk we fold into Tables.

Who it's for

Best fit: teams who will stay on Free at $0 while they open a first Team Tasks table, then Pro at $12/Doc Maker/month yearly ($15 monthly) when they need unlimited doc size or 30-day history.

Limitations / costs

• You pay Doc Makers, not every editor. Ten Makers on Pro yearly are $120/month.
• Free shared docs are page-capped and history is 7 days. A bigger doc is Pro $12.
• A Team Tasks table, not Notion AI’s chat. For that assistant see Notion AI.

Alternatives

• Notion AI — a Notion workspace when you want Notion’s public $, not Coda’s Team Tasks table.
• Rows — a spreadsheet you share when you want Rows’ public $, not Superhuman Docs $12.
• Fillout — form Analytics when you want Fillout Free $0, not a Coda Form view.
