AppFlowy

What it is for

AppFlowy is an open-source AI workspace desk: you write a note, attach a database, and Cloud Personal is $0/month (1 workspace owner; storage printed Unlimited) or you self-host. Use it when the job is notes you start at $0, not when you need a $20 chat seat.

What makes it unique: the cover is the official AppFlowy Welcome notes UI (Getting started, New page) from the GitHub still — not a pricing card. The page itself is ops of Documents.

Key features

• Documents — a page you write (cover; pricing Personal $0). One note. Subpages and the cover “New page” sit here.
• Databases — a grid of rows, not a document (GitHub Grid still; pricing Dashboards). A table. Board / calendar views of the same database are ops of this — do not count them separately.
• Sites / publish — a public docs site from pages (pricing Publish pages; Sites still). A URL, not an editor tab. “Single page” vs “Include subpages” is SKU of this.
• AppFlowy AI — meeting notes, transcript, responses, search, and Local AI (pricing AI rows). A generate, not a page. Confirm which AI rows Personal fills — do not invent that Local AI is on $0.
• Self-host / Cloud — the AGPL app you run, or AppFlowy Cloud (pricing Self-Hosted / AppFlowy Cloud; GitHub). A deploy, not a note. Guest editors are SKU of Pro (printed free of charge).

Members are the Cloud meter (Personal = 1 workspace owner; Pro = unlimited, charged per member). Storage and file uploads print Unlimited on the cards we fetched.

Who it's for

Best fit: people who will stay on Cloud Personal $0 (1 workspace owner, Unlimited storage as printed) or self-host while they open a first Welcome page, then buy Pro at $12/member/month billed annually ($16 monthly) when they need extra members and guest editors.

Pricing

Verified 2026-10-22 (Asia/Shanghai) from appflowy.com/pricing. Cloud cards below. Self-host column is on the same page.

• Personal — $0/month. “For personal productivity.” 1 workspace owner. Storage printed Unlimited. File uploads printed Unlimited.
• Pro — $12/member/month billed annually ($144/member/year), or $16/member/month billed monthly. FAQ example: you only = $12/mo annual or $16 monthly; five members = $60/mo annual or $80 monthly. Guest editors on Pro are free. Unlimited members, charged per member.
• Self-hosted — the AGPL app you run (GitHub; self-hosting guide). Confirm any paid self-host add-on on the live page — do not invent an Enterprise self-host dollar. Schema.org priceRange on the page is $0–Contact us.

Confirm checkout; taxes follow your location.

Limitations / costs

• Personal is 1 workspace owner. A second member is Pro, not a second Personal bucket.
• AI inclusion is a comparison-table row. Confirm Local AI / meeting notes on the live Personal column before you assume they are $0.
• A notes desk, not a design file. For UI files see Penpot. For a local canvas see AFFiNE.

Alternatives

• AFFiNE — local-first docs + whiteboard when you want an infinite canvas, not AppFlowy Sites.
• Outline — a team wiki when you will not run AppFlowy databases.
• Penpot — OSS design files when the job is UI, not notes.
